BROADCHURCH detectives DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller begin to uncover the full scale of the “scary” web of lies surrounding the vile rape case they’re investigating on tonight’s third episode.
The partners, played by David Tennant and Olivia Colman, continue to question their huge group of suspects as they attempt to uncover the truth behind Julie Hesmondhalgh’s character’s sexual assault.
A new trailer for tonight’s show reveals more clues ahead of the big reveal, and suspicion begins to fall on taxi driver Clive Lucas.
In a scene from inside the police station, Hardy asks him: “Why would you lie about what you were doing?”
But he’s not the only one in the firing line, as Miller points out: “It’s a scarily wide network out there.”
This series focuses on Julie’s character Trish, who was the victim of a horrific sexual assault during her friend’s birthday party.

She is seen seeking comfort from her close friend Cath Atwood, played by Sarah Parish, in tonight’s show as they take a walk on the beach.
But Cath has been lined up in the huge network of suspects too, alongside her husband Jim Atwood.
Hardy is then seen asking another man in the teaser clip: “You didn’t think to tell us you’d found this stuff?”
Meanwhile, more teaser photos show Beth and Mark Latimer meeting during her jog in a tense reunion following their split, before she appears to run away from him.
And Lenny Henry’s character Ed Burnett is caught in the thick of the complicated web, as he’s pictured with Cath outside his shop, no doubt discussing Trish’s attack.
Elsewhere, Trish’s ex husband Ian pays Jim a visit at his garage, and they appear to have a tense chat.
Will the detectives get any close to uncovering what really happened?
