BROADCHURCH fans have been gripped by the chilling storyline which is playing out in the third series of the hit ITV drama.
But when it all gets a bit too much, some of them have noticed there is some light relief in each episode – thanks to David Tennant’s face.
In his role as DCI Alec Hardy, David faces a series of challenges during each 60 minute show.
Whether it’s his exasperation at Miller (Olivia Colman), another confusing clue or his sheer disdain for everything and anything that has no connection to him solving the crime: his face is a quagmire of amazing expressions.

Many gems of comedy gold come from the main briefing room in Broadchurch police station.
Often working 12 hour days with his trusted sidekick Miller, Hardy’s face often moves into a series of weird and wonderful contortions.

David also has Hardy’s look of withering exasperation perfected.
As he struggles to work out suspects would lie to him, or why the old chap who owns Axehamption House wouldn’t tell him about a pair of cricket bats, which are almost definitely linked to Trish’s attack, his face tells the story without the need for words.
A third fan wrote: “Got to love Alec Hardy’s ‘Are you for real right now’ face?”
Another tweeted: “Not going to lie, the best thing about #broadchurch is David Tennant’s face!”
The third series of Broadchurch is now in its final stretch and the plot has continued to twist and turn.
With Jim Atwood revealed as Trish Winterman’s secret lover and a convicted rapist living just hours away – it seems Hardy and Miller are still no closer to solving the crime.
