BROADCHURCH looks set to have a shock twist on Monday night’s finale when Trish Winterman’s rapist is revealed.
While a bevy of new characters have been the focus of the investigation, actor Joe Sims who has played Nigel Carter since the first series has hinted that the rapist could already be someone viewers have known since the first series.
Joe told The Daily Express: “It’s worth bearing in mind the combination of the three series of focus on that community, so expect the unexpected.”
Dropping an even larger hint, he added: “When you’re looking at who may have perpetrated any act, any horrible act, or any acts of goodness, it is far better to look at it from a perspective of someone who has watched all three series rather than who has come later.”

Fans of the show are no closer to learning how raped Trish and possibly two other women in the town, although there is a fan theory that a group of men could be behind the crime.
Mark Bazeley who plays Jim Atwood, may have confirmed this theory when he let slip that “persons” could be responsible.
Appearing on This Morning, he said: “’I think the person or persons who have done the deed are forewarned simply because of the nature of show.”
