BROADCHURCH writer Chris Chibnall has confirmed tonight’s episode will be the last EVER and insisted it is “the end of the story tonight.”
The man behind the explosive ITV drama hammered home the fact the plotline would come to a close in a dramatic hour-long show on Monday evening.
He told Good Morning Britain’s weather girl Laura Tobin today he couldn’t see a show follow-up and said: “I don’t think so.
“It’s the end of the story tonight.
“I hope it’s a satisfying end.
“I hope it’s a satisfying end – there are a lot of things going to happen tonight.
“We only have an hour to clear up the whole show.”
Fans are being kept on tenterhooks as to whether some of the programme’s main protagonists – including actor Lenny Henry – are behind the rape of Trish Waterman.

They will hold their breath as the truth is at last revealed in the Broadchurch finale – which isn’t just the end of the third series, but the show as a whole.
And Chris revealed he always knew who he could pin his script on, yet to keep things top secret, he warned all show newbies they were in the frame.
He said on today’s ITV breakfast show: “It hasn’t changed from the second draft of episode one.
“Everyone coming to join had to join on the proviso it might be them.”
On Saturday, The Sun exclusively revealed Chris had promised the last script would go to some dark places.”
Chris, 46, said: “Sitting down to write the final episode was very emotional and I admit I actually had a bit of a weep doing it.
“Obviously it is a very emotional story we are telling and there are lots of complex shades of emotion.
There is the resolution to the story of the attack on Trish, which goes to a lot of dark places, but there is also the small matter of saying goodbye to the show and all these characters.”
