CAROLYN Pickles is back for a third series of Broadchurch as Maggie Radcliffe – editor on the local paper.
The actress has a wealth of TV and film experience, but has become best known for her recent appearances in the ITV drama Broadchurch.
Who is Carolyn Pickles?
Carolyn Pickles, 65, is a British Actress, originally from Wakefield in West Yorkshire but now living in North London.
Carolyn is the daughter of High Court judge James Pickles, niece to actress Christina and great niece to TV and radio personality Wilfred Pickles.
She studied Drama at the University of Manchester before pursuing a career in acting.
What else has Carolyn Pickles been in?
Carolyn started her career with a two year stint in The Bill, as DCI Kim Reid, she also appeared in BBC’s children series Through The Dragon’s Eye.
Carolyn also played a role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – part 1, as Muggle studies teacher Charity Burbage.
According to her Twitter account, she also teaches at Actors Centre and TAG (The Actors’ Guild of Great Britain).
After her stint on Broadchurch, Pickles played the role of Maureen Williams in BBC series New Blood, and has had ongoing roles in Doctors for the last sixteen years.
Who does Carolyn Pickles play in Broadchurch?
Carolyn’s character Maggie Radcliffe has played a major role in both series one and two of Broadchurch.
Maggie Radcliffe is the editor of the local paper, The Broadchurch Echo, which until the murder of Danny Latimer, had not witnessed much excitement in the past.
In the first series, Maggie Radcliffe plays a key role in helping to investigate the murder of Danny, and look into the shady background of Pauline Quirke’s character Susan Wright.
At the end of series two, Maggie and QC Jocelyn shared a kiss, after Jocelyn confessed her love for the newspaper editor.
What is Broadchurch about?
Broadchurch is the name of the fictional, small coastal town where the series is set.
Series one focused on the death of Mark and Jodie’s 11-year-old son Danny, with the search for the murderer being led by DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller.
DI Hardy was new to the area, after leaving his old patch: Sandbrook, after a failed case.
At the end of series one, Joe Miller – the husband of Ellie Miller, was discovered as Danny’s killer after he confessed the murder to DI Hardy.
Series two opened with the murder trial of Danny Latimer, Joe Miller was found not guilty by the jury and the members of the Broadchurch community threatened him to leave the area permanently.
The remainder of series two focused on the reopening of the Sandbrook case, which Alec Hardy had worked on before coming to the town of Broadchurch.
The plot of the third series of Broadchurch had been a closely guarded secret, but we now know that the plot will focus around a serious sexual assault.
Writer Chris Chibnall said: “This is the final chapter of Broadchurch.
“We have one last story to tell, featuring both familiar faces and new characters.
“I hope it’s a compelling and emotional farewell to a world and show that means so much to me.”
